Television and Data Over Category 5 Cable
For applications requiring television and data transmission on the same
cable, the Lynx Video and Data Network (LVD) is recommended. The back
of the LVD hub has RJ-45 jacks to accept Ethernet input signals, which
pass directly through the hub to output ports on the front of the unit.
Television signals (RF) are added on pair four, and travel independently
from the 10/100 Base-T signals that are carried on pairs two and three.
At the point of use the Ethernet is routed to an RJ-45 connector
and the RF signal is converted to coaxial form and sent to an F connector.

The following diagram shows how an LVD hub integrates television and data (or phone).

Because Lynx equipment has a passive (unpowered) design, an amplifier is usually installed ahead of the Lynx hub to compensate for cable and insertion losses. See Amplifier Suggestions and Data Sheets for additional information.
